7 LYCAENID BUTTERFLY, U.S.
We find an infinite variety in the design and patterns on the wings of Lycaenid butterflies but the arrangement of the wing-veins in each is similar. This #7 sign on the hindwing may be soft as in this image. Others are brilliantly colored in irridescent blue, violet, green, red or orange, especially in the male.
Males being more colorful, are eaten by predators like birds and lizards to a higher degree than females. Females, as is the norm in the evolutionary process, being more important, live longer.
