P SPIDER FLOWER WITH LADYBUG, U.S.
A hummingbird’s favorite, the fragrant rose-pink “Spider Flower,” Cleome, gracefully opens its bud swaying in the slightest breeze. The resident Ladybug, always helpful in the control of the flower’s enemies, is eying its favorite food: two innocently feeding aphids plus a baby. In Germany these beneficial and attractive beetles are called: “Marienkaeferor” (Mary’s beetles), in France, “les vaches de la Vierge” (cows of the Virgin). |
